I have long enjoyed this wild-looking Japanese selection of burnet, that has been far too difficult to get enough of to share until now. Each leaflet on the compound leaves is speckled with irregular yellow dots...sort of like the leopard plant. S. 'Lemon Splash' makes a 2' wide rosette, that is topped in late summer with 3' spikes of lavender flowers...actually the flowers look more like short, fat pipe cleaners. Occasionally solid green shoots may occur, which should be promptly removed. S. 'Lemon Splash' grows best in a wet to slightly moist garden soil.
