(syn: S. 'Santa Barbara') Occasionally a great plant appears seemingly with no history...probably thanks to the Plant Protection Program. This fabulous salvia appeared in the Southern California area with no recorded past. The growth habit and leaf shape are similar to S. leucantha. The "leucantha-esque" flowers of fuzzy white with purple specks top the clump from late spring through fall. Rumors of it being a S. leucantha hybrid or a new species from Mexico have circulated... anyway, it is truly FABULOUS!
