(aka: Primula 'Blue Zebra') Primula 'Zebra Blue' (the correct name) is a new and improved (better flower coloration) strain of a hardy primrose we've enjoyed for years in our woodland garden under the name, Primula 'Tie Dye'. The compact 6" tall x 8" wide clumps are topped in early spring with flower clusters that hover just above the foliage. The flowers are truly amazing...intricate violet-blue streaks through an otherwise white flower, highlighted by a central yellow throat...simply irresistible! In our climate, primulas usually disappear for the summer and return in late fall. Primula 'Zebra Blue' was developed by Stijn van Hoecke at Belgium's Rudy Raes company and introduced through the Hort Couture marketing program.
