Phlomis cashmeriana is a small growing but little known, garden-worthy perennial composed of 1' long spade-shaped, felty green leaves with luscious silvery backsides that are revealed in the slightest breeze. In early May (NC), the 2' wide patches are topped with 20" flower stalks adorned with verticillasters (whorled flower clusters...not to be confused with whorled peas) of mauvy pink. For us, well-drained soil, good air movement, and plenty of light are the perfect combinations for this easy-to-grow perennial.
