This Georgia native is one of the real treasures that I first saw on my 1997 trip to Southeastern Georgia. Found on dry granite outcrops, this wonderful native forms an upright clump to 18" tall. The stems are clothed with very lacy, cutleaf, green foliage. Atop the clumps in spring (early May in NC) are small purple bell shaped flowers. P. dissectus prefers hot, dry and well drained conditions. Initial hardiness trials conducted in Minnesota have shown this to be much more cold-tolerant than anticipated.
