Lysimachia clethroides 'Heronswood Gold' is a truly stunning selection of the perennial gooseneck originally purchased in Japan and later introduced to the US by Heronswood Nursery. We typically wouldn't allow Lysimachia clethroides into our garden due to its overly aggressive spreading tendencies, but we've found Lysimachia 'Heronswood Gold' much less aggressive, forming only a 3' wide patch in 2 years. The 2' tall stems are clothed in bright gold foliage which provides a stunning impact in the garden. Starting in mid-July (NC), the stems are topped with attractive 6" spikes of small, pure white flowers. Average to moist soils are best for Lysimachia 'Heronswood Gold', and although the species is fine in full sun, this clone may scorch in all day sun in very hot summer climates.
