This seedling popped up in our garden in a patch of L. cardinalis. After watching the flowers for several years, we couldn't think of another name that more closely matched the flower color. The shrimpy pink blooms (RHS 62D) starting in mid summer are darker toward the lip (like people who insult our plants) with a lighter face. The unopened buds are a wonderful peachy pink color. The flowers look so much like shrimp that inebriated gardeners may find their lobelias on the grill skewer!
