(syn: Ilysanthes grandiflora) This deciduous Southeast US native is a newcomer to most perennial gardens. Blue moneywort (a member of the Scrophularia family) grows like regular moneywort, with 0.5" heart-shaped leaves creeping along the ground. From each node arises a tiny, cute blue flower with a star-like white marking in the center. Flowering occurs from spring through summer. Blue moneywort has been hardy to 0 degrees F in our garden and has been happiest in moist soils.
