Lantana 'Sonset' is another in the new series of hardy lantanas from James Covington in Mississippi. L. 'Sonset' was discovered as a branch sport on L. 'Sonrise'. The new plant proved to be more compact than its parent, with more intense and saturated flower color. The flowers open golden-yellow (RHS 14A) surrounding the orange central buds. As the flowers age, they gain a touch of cherry red (RHS 45A) and purple (RHS 66A). Like its parent, L. 'Sonset' is sterile when not grown near a fertile female...lantana.
