    From South Africa's Eastern Cape, where it is considerd threatened comes another great garden plant. Kniphofia hirsuta makes a small clump of narrow serrate-edged grey-green foliage, topped in mid-spring with 20" spikes of coral orange, aging to white at the base. This is one of the earliest and smallest of the kniphofia species.
