Iris unguicularis 'Mary Bernard' is one of the best flowering forms of the winter blooming iris we have grown. Iris unguicularis 'Mary Bernard', a wild collection from Algeria, starts blooming slightly earlier in the fall and with slightly larger flowers than many Iris unguicularis selections. The tight clumps are composed of narrow foliage, interspersed in late fall and again in late winter/early spring with fragrant dark purple flowers nestled just below the leaf tips. All winter blooming iris prefer a well-drained location.
