Iris unguicularis 'Front Drive' is a Nancy Goodwin (Montrose Gardens) selection of the winter blooming iris that's unfortunately never had a significant public introduction. The flowers, which top the clump from late fall into early spring, are rich lavender with prominent yellow-brick-road signals leading to the eye, surrounded by a reticulated purple and white backdrop. When the weather is right, each petal is also surrounded by a unique, narrow white border. Morning to half day sun, and a dryish site is best. This is the first time in 19 years that we've had enough to share.
