This amazing little groundcover St. John's wort hails from mountains in the Southern European countries of Greece, Turkey, and Bulgaria. In our rock garden, Hypericum cerastoides makes a fabulous 3" tall groundcover with small silver leaves that hug the ground. In a couple of seasons, Hypericum cerastoides can form a lovely 4' wide mat. In summer, the patches are topped with typical yellow St. John's wort flowers that sit atop the foliage. We have found Hypericum cerastoides quite easy to grow as long as it can be kept dry in winter.
