xHippeastrelia 'Red Rover' is a 2020 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a bi-generic hybrid between the Mexican Aztec lily (sprekelia) and the florist amaryllis (Hippeastrum). Our selection originated as a seedling from xHippeastrelia 'Red Beauty'. xHippeastrelia 'Red Rover' produces an abundance of 16" tall stalks, each topped, periodically from spring through summer with 2-4 bright red flowers. Each petal has a white streak toward the base...a trait absent in the solid red parent, H. 'Red Beauty'. This excellent re-blooming clone produces a procession of flowers all summer. We think you'll really enjoy this in a well-drained, part sun location. It will be another 5-8 years before we have enough to offer this again.
