We obtained this fine form of H. viridis from Birmingham's Jinksie Burnam, in whose garden it has prospered for many years. Hellebore guru, Brian Matthew has reportedly identified this as H. viridis ssp. viridis. The thick, evergreen, hand-like foliage serves as a nice foil to the new flower stalks of dozens of 1" green flowers starting in late winter. The flowers last from February through May for us. A well-established clump is a spectacular accent in the winter garden.
