This superb seed strain from New Zealand's John Dudley was created from a cross of H. x sternii 'Boughton Beauty' backcrossed to the lovely and talented H. lividus. H. 'Rachel' makes a 1' tall x 1' wide clump with pinkish stems clothed with aqua-green foliage, highlighted with dramatic silver veining. Each clump is topped with an abundance of interesting greenish-pink flowers in early spring. H. 'Rachel' has the appearance of H. lividus with slightly more winter hardiness. H. 'Rachel' is named for the proprietor of Rosevears Nursery in Tasmania.
