Helianthus mollis 'Tulsa Gold' is a 2025 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a Todd Lasseigne selection of the US (Maine to Texas), prairie native. The upright stalks reach 5' tall, clasped by hairy green leaves, all covered with silver hairs. Starting for us in mid-July, the stalks are topped with clusters of light butter yellow daisies, along with a parade of native bumblebees. This selection from Tulsa, Oklahoma, has been an exceptionally well-behaved form, making a 6' wide, dense patch in five years. Well-drained soils and plenty of sun are the keys to success.
