Hedera rhombea 'Cheju' is one of our favorite plants from all of our plant expeditions. I found this adult form of Hedera rhombea growing on Korea's famed Cheju Island and was able to coax a piece to root. Our original plant, in the garden since 1998, has made an incredibly tight 2' tall x 3' wide clump which is topped with flower clusters in September/October that are replaced by incredibly attractive black-fruited seed heads lasting into spring. In 15 years, we've never seen a single seedling in the garden. Since Hedera rhombea 'Cheju' is insanely difficult to root, we will never have many to share. Although we found this in deep shade, we grow ours in our full sun rock garden among the agaves, since both have similar drought tolerance.
