Gymnocalycium deszianum is a typically solitary barrel cactus from the Cordoba region of central Argentina, that has thrived in our rock garden since 2012, enduring low temperatures of 7 degrees F. The 3" tall x 4" wide, glossy green, knobby barrel is adorned with eyelash-like white reflexed spines, and topped in spring with amazing large white flowers. While we recommend a winter dry location for all hardy barrel cactus, Gymnocalycium deeszianum has thrived without any protection.
