Perfect for the jewel-toned garden, rich sapphire-blue flowers (RHS 82A) are produced in late spring on the 2' wide clumper, thanks to the parentage of the meadow-dwelling G. pratense. The color of the flowers really glows when set next to golden foliaged plants. If you have killed G. 'Johnson's Blue', try this one...much easier to please and the form is quite similar. The foliage is deeply serrated, like lace doilies, round in outline. The mound of foliage stays attractive for the rest of the summer.
