This tough, long-lived new seed strain of the Rocky Mountain native G. aristata has proven to be an amazing plant in our trial gardens. G. 'Bijou' was selected for dwarfness by French plant breeders from the popular G. 'Kobold' (Goblin strain). The crow-foot shaped gray-green foliage makes a dense round mound to only 10" tall. The foliage is virtually obscured by the steady parade of huge 3" flowers...bright orange-red with yellow tips...April thru October. If you enjoy flowering basketballs, this is a must! Drought tolerance, a pre-pruned meatball shape, and tacky colored flowers--a perfect color echo for old rusty Fords--what more could you ask for?
