Another of the great, but little known plants from Argentina is the hardy fuchsia. Actually, this is only one of several hardy fuchsias. From late summer and into fall, the clumps are topped with lovely pendant purple bells, backed by contrasting red sepals. I'd be kidding if I told you these were easy to grow in the east, so siting will be critical. A well-drained site with morning sun and then shade in the afternoon is perfect. If you can keep these happy, they will be some of the most amazing plants in your garden.
