The swamp spurge is essentially a larger version of the highly valued and more widely grown, E. epithymoides (polychroma). The narrow, medium-green leaves clothe the upright 30" stems, topped in April and May with bright yellow bracts (like a poinsettia). A mass of E. palustris in the spring garden will truly make a breathtaking show. Unlike other euphorbias, E. palustris thrives in moist conditions, including shallow standing water. E. palustris will seed around the garden a bit, especially in moist sites, so don't plant it near small treasures.
