Epimedium x youngianum 'Purple Heart' is a 2000 Darrell Probst introduction from his cross of E. grandiflorum var. violaceum and E. x youngianum 'Pink Star'. The purple-tinged leaflets become darker as they mature, providing a stunning backdrop for the near-white flowers. While the leaves on this tight clumper eventually turn green as the weather warms, they once again take on the purple color as fall arrives.
