If you've been feeling blue and need a jolt of orange, then here is the epimedium for you! From the late and famed Mrs. Wilmott of England, who hoarded her hybrid until her death, comes this (E. alpinum x E. pinnatum ssp. colchicum) cross that makes a rapidly spreading mat (4-6" per year) of rounded foliage (evergreen from zone 7 south). The mat is topped in spring with 1' tall sprays of bright orange flowers... a real stunner in the early spring woodland garden.
