(aka: Epimedium shuchengense Cc030178/PDN01) Epimedium shuchengense is a delightful little fairy wing, closely related to the better known Epimedium davidii. Epimedium shuchengense was only discovered in 1996 around 6000' elevation in China's Ghizhou province, and thanks to the persistance of epimedium guru, Darrell Probst, this new species is safely in cultivation. For us, Epimedium shuchengense makes an excellent groundcover, spreading 8-12" per year. The evergreen foliage which emerges flecked with purple is topped, starting in mid-April with 6-9 flowered stalks of bright yellow flowers. ..delightful!
