Echinocereus reichenbachii 'Columbus' is a 2024 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a Wade Roitsch (Yucca Do) seed collection from Colorado County, Texas, near the town of Columbus, where it grows in gravelly soil. Echinocereus reichenbachii forms upright clumps of thick stems with attractive body paint-like tiny brown spines. The plants are further adorned in mid-April (NC) with large mauvy pink flowers. Full sun, good drainage, good air movement, and keeping the plant dry in winter are the keys to success.
