Dystaenia takesimana is the ultimate perennial edimental. Not only is this amazing Korean native stunning in flower, but it's also used in Korean culture as the rest of the world would consume celery. The angelica-like foliage remains evergreen all winter, and is topped, starting for us in early June with 4' tall stalks of white Queen Anne's Lace-like flowers that are laden with an amazing array of beneficial insects. After flowering, the plant goes dormant for a short rest, re-emerging in August. Both the leaves and stalks are used in soups. The flavor is somewhere between celery and lovage. We can't say enough great things about this amazing perennial.
