Disporum trabeculatum is an odd Solomon's seal from Vietnam that has thrived for us for a couple of decades in our woodland garden. The stalks and foliage remain evergreen until temperatures drop below 15 degrees F, but arise again in spring. The 15" tall stalks are clothed in elegant rounded leaves, that emerge in spring with a bronze tint. For us, Disporum trabeculatum also pushes a large number of new stalks in fall, freshening the woodland garden. Disporum trabeculatum is a stoloniferous, colonizing species, but the stalks emerge far enough apart to not interfere with other smaller specimens. The stalks are adorned with clusters of tiny white flowers in early spring...truly delightful!
