(aka: D. vimineum) This little-known subspecies of Delphinium carolinianum (often recognized as a separate species) is found on open sandy sites in Texas and the surrounding states to the north and east. Our offering is from a Wade Roitsch collection in Waller County. Emerging in spring from a basal rosette of cutleaf green foliage (much less divided than in other subspecies of D. carolinianum) are 4' tall flowering spikes topped with open spikes of blue flowers. As you can imagine from its native habitat, well drained soils are preferred.
