Dahlia 'Moonfire' is another of the unique but little known purple foliage dahlias. This 1993 introduction was bred in Holland and then named by England's Bridgemere Garden Center. Each 2' wide clump is topped from early summer through fall with delightful single 2" butterscotch flowers (RHS 163A), each highlighted by a dramatic burnt red eye. Actually it even looks like the red-eye gravy I burnt back before my wife stopped me from cooking. Dahlia 'Moonfire' is a lot like how Michelle described my cooking, "Nobody in their right mind would believe this!"
