(aka: Tradescantia rosea) Several years ago, I had the pleasure of accompanying plant guru Frank Galloway around his hometown area in Brunswick Co., NC. One of the most amazing areas was a power line right-of-way that was filled with amazing horticultural treasurers. One of my best garden performers from the trip was a large-flowered and very floriferous form of the dwarf spiderwort that we finally got around to propagating and sharing as a 2002 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction. Keep in mind that "large" is still only three-quarters of an inch. Growing in dry sand, the grass-like foliage makes a small 8" wide clump, topped from late June until frost with dozens of pink spiderwort-like flowers...a great rock garden specimen. The best part is that it doesn't seed around like many other spiderworts.
