(syn: Crinum 'Nassau') This vigorous, fast-multiplying hybrid crinum lily has been grown in the US since at least 1873 (according to Scott Ogden). Crinum 'Royal White' is probably a hybrid of Crinum scabrum x Crinum americanum that makes a large mound of glossy green, sprawling foliage. From midsummer to fall, Crinum 'Royal White' clumps are topped with sturdy, 30" tall stalks of 6 large, open-faced white flowers with light maroon-wine stripes down each petal. The wonderful fragrance from Crinum americanum is passed along to this offspring. You'll have to pretend that we have scratch and sniff...just substitute your spouse and pretend he/she is a crinum. On second thought...
