Crinum ligulatum 'Star Power' is a compact, dwarf crinum for people who don't like monster-sized crinums. This 2018 Plant Delights Nursery introduction started life as a seedling selection we made from an original seed collection from its native haunts in Madagascar. Crinum ligulatum 'Star Power' forms a vigorous but compact 18" tall x 3.5' wide clump of 20" long glossy green leaves. The attractive clumps are topped, starting in early May (NC) with numerous 2' tall stalks, each terminating in a cluster of cherry-red buds, which open to reveal pure-white, star-like, sweetly-fragrant flowers with pink petal backs and contrasting pink anthers...truly amazing. Crinum 'Star Power' is very drought tolerant, but moist rich soils still grow the best plants.
