(aka: Crinum 'Dragon Lady) Crinum 'Maureen Spinks' is one of the old passalong crinum lilies that are occasionally encountered as you drive by gardens in the Deep South. Crinum 'Maureen Spinks' is a selection of Crinum x baconi (Crinum americanum x Crinum zeylanicum). The narrow 3' tall clumps of very upright glossy green leaves are topped from late July until September (NC) with 3' burgundy stalks that first produce bright burgundy red buds that open to 7-9 large, outfacing, fragrant flowers with dramatic narrow red and white striped petals. Unlike many crinums that require large amounts of room, Crinum x baconi will fit nicely in much smaller gardens.
