    This is one of the toughest perennials for woodland gardens. C. ophiocarpa (confused in the trade with C. cheilanthifolia) has lovely cutleaf olive drab evergreen foliage on a nice clump to 18" wide and tall. C. ophiocarpa looks great all year, and in spring covers itself with small creamy flowers. Albeit shallow rooted, C. ophiocarpa tends to naturalize in rich soils by reseeding.
