Keen gardeners around the country are singing the praises of the new era of blue corydalis. C. 'Blue Panda' represents the original 1986 collection of explorer Reuben Hatch. This collection came from the Panda Reserve in China's Sichuan province. Like a small fern, each clump produces dissected dicentra-like foliage in early spring, then in May and June (and all summer in cool climates) is topped with short spikes of clear blue flowers. These clumps will go summer dormant in hot climates.
