xLeucocolocasia 'Imperial Gigante' is a fascinating elephant ear from the handiwork of Kentucky's Brian Williams. This tightly-clumping Colocasia esculenta x Leucocasia gigantea (formerly Colocasia) hybrid forms a 4' tall x 6' wide clump, composed of 2' long x 16" wide leaves. Each olive green leaf is highlighted by multi-shades of muted black patterns between the green leaf veins. Starting for us in mid-October, the clumps are adorned with long, narrow-spathed, white flowers that are similar in shape to Leucocasia gigantea. xLeucocolocasia 'Imperial Gigante' has been an excellent performer for us in Zone 7b, but would likely grow much larger in climates with milder winters.
