If you have a hot, sunny, well-drained site, then you need to grow Georgia savory. Clinopodium georgianum is an amazing southeast US native that makes an 18" tall x 2' wide clumping sub-shrub. The multitude of upright stems are clothed in small, round, light green leaves that smell like high-dollar peppermint candy. Starting in late August, the clumps are adorned with hundreds of small lavender flowers. Unlike many unsavory characters you would not like to touch, plant Georgia savory where you rub against it often and release the delightful foliage fragrance...truly superb!
