Although there have been a number of great new carex introduced over the last decade, this standard still stands the test of time. Carex siderosticta 'Variegata' spreads slowly and non-aggressively to create a sea of green-and-white edged .5" wide x 14" long arching leaves. In 5 years, you can expect a 10" tall x 3' wide deer-resistant patch under average garden conditions. The winter deciduous Carex siderosticta is equally at home in both moist or average garden soils...superb for underplanting shrubs and trees.
