Begonia 'Caribbean Star' is a fascinating Tim Anderson (Palm Hammock Orchid Estate) hybrid that was made widely available thanks to begoniaphile, John Boggan. Our 2' tall x 2' wide plants, clothed in hand-sized silver, jagged-edge leaves highlighted by green veins, is topped with stalks of pink flowers in fall. Begonia 'Caribbean Star', planted here in 2019, is still thriving in the garden after our 11 degree F winter. Earlier attempts died at 7 degrees F, so that makes it Zone 8a hardy. Where winter temperatures are too cold, enjoy this as a great house plant.
