B. nuttalliana is virtually unknown outside it's native habitat in east Texas. The clumps appear as little round meatballs, 18" tall x 18" wide. In early to mid-May, they are adorned with yellow pea-like flowers appearing in the leaf axils. While this is not as showy as many other species, it is quite unique in appearance. This is our seed grown collection from Highway 204, about 30 miles north of Nacogdoches in eastern Texas... made just ahead of the highway department mower.
