In Texas, this is one of the most common of the native baptisias, but still one of the least known in cultivation. Instead of behaving like its brothers, this unique baptisia holds its stunning creamy white flowers in long horizontal racemes. B. leucophaea is best planted on a mound or at the top of a wall, where the flowers can be best appreciated. This collection is from a population of plants with variable seed pods located 3 miles east of the Navasota River Crossing on Highway 30, near College Station, TX.
