This seed collection of the rarely cultivated B. lanceolata was made in Okaloosa County, Florida, near the gate for Eglin Air Force Base (obviously collected prior to 9/11). Each 1' tall x 18" wide clump has unusually wide leaves compared to our South Carolina collections of the same species. In late May, the small yellow flowers are borne in the leaf axils. The foliage even turns brown in midsummer. Honestly, this has little if any commercial value unless you just have to have every plant species. Think of this as Charlie Brown's baptisia.
