With the southeast US native Balduina atropurpurea you're left wondering most of the season...what is that odd flat rosette I planted? Then, suddenly in late September, you find amazing stalks of bright yellow daisies and ask yourself...."Self, what is that odd daisy-like thing I planted?" Purpledisk honeycombhead (I didn't make that up) can be found in pitcher plant bogs and low elevation pine savannahs in the coastal southeast US. Balduina atropurpurea is also one of the showiest fall plants you never heard of. In the garden, reasonably moist soils are fine. In containers, treat them like pitcher plants...keep them moist, but don't let the top few inches of soil remain waterlogged. Our offerings are propagated from cuttings of a population in Irwin County, Georgia.
