Aucuba 'Mellow Mushroom' is a 2022 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a very slow-growing dwarf selection shared by our friend, plantsman Ozzie Johnson, who was given cuttings from by late variegated plant guru, Dr. Yokoi of Japan. Our 10 year-old compact, mushroom-shaped plants have reached a near mature size of 30" tall x 4' wide. The branches are clothed with very dark green leaves and adorned with sparse small gold spots. This male selection puts on an amazing floral show of terminal masses of small redwood-colored flowers in late February.
