For those folks with brown thumbs, here's an astilbe that anyone can grow. The vertically challenged mound of foliage never exceeds 3-4" tall, while spreading on short rhizomes. In late summer, the clumps are topped with medium pink flower spikes. This is a perfect choice for a woodland groundcover in either dry or wet shade. We've even got this tough-as-nails astilbe growing under a black walnut tree in the South... that says it all!
