This spectacular astilbe is tops in the late flowering category. A. 'Purpurkerze' is a selection of the heat loving, drought tolerant Astilbe chinensis. The lacy basal foliage emerges bronze and changes to a bronzy green. In July/August, the full-figured clumps are topped with stunning 42" tall "purple candles." You'll love this astilbe even in the hot climates of Zone 7 and 8.
