    This recent, vertically challenged aster selection from the breeding program of the late Ed Wood of Portland will make a stunning compact clump of clean, dark-green foliage, topped in August and September with sprays of dark-purple flowers with yellow centers. A. 'Wood's Purple' is best used in the front of the border or as an edging plant.
