This is a dwarf (if you call 4' dwarf) version of the wonderful giant aster. A. 'Jindai' has the same basal growth in the spring of oblong green leaves, attached to a moderately spreading rhizome. In summer, the basal stalk expands upward, culminating in late summer with bouquets of 2" blue purple flowers... great for a large border!
